Can I take a dog on Polzeath Beach?

Cornwall Council prohibits dogs on Polzeath Beach, Polzeath, from 15 May to 30 September, 10am to 6pm. The restriction is part of a Public Spaces Protection Order. Cornwall Council’s published list is titled Polzeath Beach — it does not name Pentireglaze Haven as a separate row. Visit Cornwall records that dogs are welcome at Polzeath Beach at all other times.

Are there lifeguards at Polzeath Beach?

Polzeath Beach is an RNLI lifeguarded beach. Cover is seasonal: if there are no flags, there are no lifeguards. RNLI patrol dates for 2026: Easter school holiday 3–19 April; weekends only 25–26 April; daily 2 May–27 September; weekends only 3–18 October; October half term 24 October–1 November. Patrol times 10am–6pm. RNLI, Polzeath Beach Seasonal cover is on the main beach. The National Trust states it does not extend to Pentireglaze Haven (Baby Bay). Dates can change at short notice — check the RNLI page before you swim.

Cornwall Council operates Polzeath Beach Car Park, PL27 6SS. It is a long-stay park on sand, open 24 hours, with 260 spaces that are tide dependent. Check the tide before you leave a vehicle. Cornwall Council, Polzeath Beach, PL27 6SS Permitted vehicles: cars, motorcycles and coaches. Motorhomes and campers are not permitted 11pm–8am. Overnight sleeping and camping are not allowed. No height restriction. Weight restriction 3050kg. Pay and display and pay by mobile are listed on the council page. Current charges sit there, not frozen here. Visit Cornwall places this park on the south end of the beach, just off Dunders Hill.
